Steve Greenall’s broadcasting “career” includes mobile disc jockey, freelance sports commentator and hospital radio presenter. Having worked for ten years in the football industry, FourFourTwo magazine once described him as a “gregarious Jethro Tull fan”. Well, it sounded better than “jolly old sod” !
His contribution to radio is so immeasurable that no-one has ever bothered to measure it. Having been shown the door at many places, he asked to be shown the Black Cat door, he walked through it and now we can’t get rid of him!
A tricky, speedy footballer in his youth, he was so fast he had to leave the field every 15 minutes to wipe dead flies off his glasses.
Married to Ailsa with one son, Ben, he wastes his spare time watching Brampton Spartans (in the cold) St Helens RLFC (in the lounge....high def....mmmm) and summarises life with a “glass half full” attitude. So if you meet him, please top up his glass.
He devised, promotes and presents “Join Together” on Black Cat, and is determined one day to interview the legendary Terry Reid – one of the music industry’s unsung heroes. Oh, and listen out for random shows featuring artists who you’ll rarely hear anywhere on radio, let alone Black Cat.
