FUEL CLUB INFORMATION

For houses relying on oil to provide heating and hot water, the cost has risen sharply. A fuel club can save money for you and your community. It works by getting residents together to form a bulk buying group. Some clubs have over 100 members, but you can start to save money with as few as 20 members. The maths is simple: the more members you have, the more you will save.

To start, you'll need to find out how many local people are interested -try putting a note through their letterboxes. Once you have a rough number, you can call suppliers and get quotes for a bulk discount. Try several to get the best price. Residents in Kimbolton have over 100 members and regulary get over a 4p per litre discount - that can mount up if you have a big 1000 litre tank!

Please get in touch with us at Black Cat Radio if you are running a scheme or can offer more advice.
